Remmie offers connected otoscope and Remmie App including the Remmie Care service to patients and the Remmie Data Service portal to clinicians for “pre-visit assessment”.

Patients sign up to receive the Remmie connected otoscopes with Remmie.ai image guide to capture images using a mobile device. The offerings include three months of Remmie Care service, paid for by the provider or plan. Their continued subscription is by contract between Remmie and a care-providing organization. Patients submit images and symptom summary via the Remmie App with Remmie.ai qualifier to checkon quality uploads.

Step 3

Clinicians will review records remotely and asynchronously on a contract-defined cadence and report possible findings to prompt patient for in-person or telehealth visits via Remmie Care portal, to initiate a live telehealth visit via Remmie live video streaming, or existing EMR. Risk factors

  • Age: Children between 6 months and 2 years old are more prone to ear infections due to the smaller size and shape of their eustachian tubes.
  • Group childcare: Kids in group care environments are exposed to more germs, increasing their chances of catching colds and developing ear infections compared to those cared for at home.
  • Bottle feeding: Infants who are bottle-fed, especially while lying in their cribs, have a higher risk of ear infections than those who are breastfed.
  • Seasonal trends: Ear infections tend to occur more often in the fall and winter months. Seasonal allergies, particularly when pollen levels are high, can also increase the risk.
  • Air quality: Exposure to tobacco smoke or high levels of air pollution can raise the likelihood of developing ear infections.
  • Cleft palate: Children with cleft palates may have difficulty draining fluid from the middle ear due to structural differences, increasing their risk of ear infections.

When you capture images or video using the photo button on your Remmie device or your mobile device or tablet, they are automatically stored on the device. Information is stored in the physical memory “photo gallery” of the phone/tablet that patients use, along with all photos taken with the phone/tablet. Information of the person using the otoscope is also stored in a HIPAA-compliant cloud accessible by the account owner only in accordance with HIPAA.

What are the advantages of choosing Remmie Care over TytoCare?

Remmie Care is more specialized for ENT conditions, with high fidelity imaging, pediatric and ENT usability, and AI assistance (eardrum finder and image qualifier) to enable accurate photos by families and a data service portal for clinicians to access. Assessment can be either asynchronous or synchronous, lower price, ease of use for clinician and patient, with reimbursement codes for visits previously not possible online. TytoCare is a handheld solution for home and in clinic that enables clinicians to conduct medical exams from anywhere for accurate diagnoses – e.g., listen to heart and lung sounds, look into the ear canal, throat, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, and is only synchronous. Remmie Care has a lower price point than TytoCare and works directly with specialized providers for acute, chronic ENT conditions reducing the burden on ER and post op ear tube surgery from the comfort of your home connected to certified clinicians.

Do I need to have a Remmie device to use Remmie Care?

You can also upload images from other otoscopes—not just Remmie.

Clinician Access & Experience

Who will be reviewing my images and videos?

All our clinicians are fully licensed and have extensive experience in their respective fields. They are carefully selected based on their qualifications and expertise.

Will I be able to see which clinician reviewed my images? Can I request a specific clinician, or will I be assigned to one?

Yes, you can either be assigned a clinician, or if your physician is signed up through Remmie Care, you’ll be able to use them or their provider network. If your provider is not listed through Remmie Care, you can email yourself a report and send it to your physician.

Is the clinician 24-7 online? How long will it take for me to receive the clinician’s feedback?

You can use our device at any time of the day, but your clinician isn’t required to respond in under 24 hours after the time of submission.

Platform Features & Usage

What is Remmie Care?

Remmie Care is our new service that offers advanced features of the Remmie app. You can take photos anytime, include more information regarding your symptoms and get health suggestions about your condition from a board-certified clinician.

Is there a limit to the number of submissions I can make per day or per week?

There is a maximum of 10 submissions per day. However, it could take your clinician up to 24 hours to respond to each submission regardless of how many submissions you send.

How many languages are supported for translation in this app? Is there a translation service or translator available to help me understand the diagnosis?

The Remmie app supports English and Spanish. We do not have a separate translator or translation service available.

Medical Records, Prescriptions & Diagnosis

If I go to the ER, all the medical records will be sent back to my family doctor via myChart. Does Remmie care provide this feature as well?

Remmie will send a summary report back to you via email in PDF, so you can upload to your MyChart or share with anyone of your choice.

You will need to speak to your physician regarding your connection to myChart. They may or may not have that capability in their practice.

Can I get my prescriptions through Remmie Care?

No, Remmie Care is only a platform that can connect you with telehealth professionals or your physician to help diagnose ear-nose-throat conditions. You will still need to speak to or see your physician to receive any prescriptions or care plans your clinicians might suggest.

If the diagnosis is critical, will this help me get an earlier appointment with my provider?

We can’t guarantee earlier than 24 hours. However, if the diagnosis is critical, you may need to take a trip to urgent care.
