Am I capable of diagnosing the ear infection myself because I can see the ear canal images by using the Remmie otoscope?

Always remember it is your doctors’ job to diagnose the ear infection. But it is important to practice ostoscope exams by visualizing ear canals with an otoscope. Remmie device and app allow you to see and save the image records of your ear canal to get a feel for normal appearance.

How much is the Remmie device?

Remmie is priced at $149 including the monitor and rebate for telemedicine visit.

What is the warranty?

We offer a 30-day exchange for defects and 12-month repair for normal use from the date of receipt.

What is the refund policy?

Due to the nature of the medical device your transaction is final and you will not be able to cancel the transaction and/or receive a refund of your one-time payment at any time. But if something unexpected happens in the course of completing a Transaction, we reserve the right to cancel your Transaction for any reason; if we cancel your Transaction, we’ll refund any payment you have already remitted to us for such Transaction.  Remmie offers a one (1) year warranty on the Device, pursuant to which Remmie warrants that the Device will materially conform to its specifications as provided to you in writing upon occurrence of the Transaction and that it will be free of material defects in materials and workmanship. If a Device is determined by Remmie to be defective during a 12-month period following completion of the Transaction (the “Warranty Period”), Remmie shall, at its option, repair or replace the Device free of charge to you. In the event Remmie cannot repair or replace a Device determined to be defective during the Warranty Period, Remmie will refund the amount of the original purchase price (plus any applicable taxes) upon receipt of proof of purchase. To exercise the above-stated warranty, you must submit a warranty claim by email to Remmie, Inc. at contact@remmiehealth.com during the Warranty Period and within ten (10) days following the discovery of the defect. In addition, the Device must be returned to Remmie in accordance with the instructions provided at the time the claim is made. This warranty is subject to the following limitations: This warranty is valid only if the sticker at the bottom of the Device is present indicating the serial number and manufacturing details. Remmie is not responsible for damage arising from failure to follow instructions relating to the use of the Device. Users shall be responsible for proper maintenance and handling of the Device. No warranty is extended if the Device has been altered or modified in any way. This warranty does not include problems or product malfunctions caused as a result of the User’s acts (or failure to act), the acts of others, User’s non-compliance with these Terms or events beyond Remmie’s reasonable control.

Do I need to buy the device in order to use the Remmie app?

No. Remmie app is free for download from App Store and Play Store. 

What services can I get by using the Remmie app only?

We are currently partnering with CareClix and MyTelemedicine, who provides telemedicine services. Remmie will provide a rebate (50% of first visit or 100% of first monthly subscription) upon activation or usage of telemedicine.

What’s the scope that Remmie can cover (e.g. symptom tracking, talking to a doctor, medical consultations but not official diagnose)?

Remmie applies to household ear, nose, and throat symptom visualization and sharing for telemedicine consultations. For home use, it helps users with preliminary observations of symptoms related to but not limited to: ear infection, common cold, flu, sinusitis, allergy, pharyngitis, strep throat, sore throat, pink eye, hand-foot-mouth disease, and some toothache. The telemedicine connection included in the Remmie App allows requesting a video consultation with a healthcare provider on telemedicine partner platforms. Providers will consult, diagnose, and prescribe as necessary.

Can Remmie be used on newborns? Why?

The LED light is continuously flashing during the charging, is it right?

Can my device connect to other wifi signals while connecting to Remmie otoscope?

No. Once your device is connected with OTOSCOPE wifi, you won’t be able to connect to other wifi signals simultaneously. For iOS, you should connect to your cell data, if you are going to use telemedicine when connecting to OTOSCOPE wifi.

What kind of smartphone do I need to use Remmie?

Remmie works with both Android and iOS devices: iPhone 6 or higher, Android 8, or higher.

How frequently do I need to change the specula?

The specula can be used multiple times, as long as it is cleaned with alcohol pads after each use. We suggest each family member uses his/her dedicated specula.

Will disposable specula work with the Remmie Otoscope (Similar as can regular disposable specula be used?

The regular disposable specula is a stiff shell whereas our specula are soft and bendable. There is a groove for locking the specula in place which differs from regular specula. Remmie specula have a similar size to a regular disposable speculum (with a diameter of 3.7mm, in between 2.75 mm for pediatrics and 4.25 mm for adults). Each device comes with 5 disposable specula, and you can re-order it through our website soon.

What shall I do if my live stream shows black screen or the screen is frozen?

1. Ensure the monitor is fully charged. 2.Do not use the device consecutively for more than 4 minutes. It has a self-protection mechanism to avoid overheating after a long time of use. 3.In the wifi setting page of your phone, “forget” the wifi network of the otoscope and re-establish the connection. 4. Try to be away from major electromagnetic fields emitted by computers, TVs, microwaves, etc. 5. Quit the preview page and try to preview once again.

Where can I find the saved videos/images? (del the web original question “can the images be downloaded from the web)

If you login to your Remmie account on the app, you will be able to use “Records” (left bottom of the app home page) to access the saved videos/images.  The videos/images are automatically saved in your phone. For iOS users, you will be able to find the saved videos/images in your “Photo”. For Android users, you will find the saved videos/images in the “Gallery”.

What do I do if the live stream shows too much earwax and can’t image the ear canal?

Earwax blockage could prevent the camera from imaging or focusing on the ear canal. While it may be tempting to remove the wax, you should take great caution when trying to treat earwax buildup at home. We would recommend you to use our device to take images of earwax buildup and check with your doctor or the telemedicine doctor. Only use cotton swabs on the outer portion of your ears if necessary. To soften earwax, you may purchase over-the-counter drops made specifically for this purpose. The videos/images are automatically saved in your phone. For iOS users, you will be able to find the saved videos/images in your “Photo”. For Android users, you will find the saved videos/images in the “Gallery”.

Can I send recorded images/videos to my kids’ doctor?

You’ll be able to use Remmie to communicate with your children’s providers if they are using Zoom or are contract providers on CareClix or MyTelemedicine. For all other providers, you’ll be able to upload prior to a virtual visit using your doctor’s preferred telemedicine platform. We continue to expand our provider coverage and partnership and are aiming to enable the connection between you and your provider in the future if they are not part of our partner networks.

How do I replace the battery?

The battery is rechargeable through USB and there is no need to replace it with normal use.

Anything else like extra costs I need to know beyond the device itself?

There is no extra cost for a professional to use the product beyond purchasing the device. We do offer telemedicine services and would like to partner with HCPs who are interested in partnership bases.

Insurance

Is Remmie covered by insurance?

Users pay $150 to receive a Remmie device, which is not covered by insurance. However, the telemedicine services could be covered depending on your insurance provider. Please refer to our service providers’ terms and your insurance coverage for details.

Is the telemedicine service covered by insurance?

You will have to contact your insurance carrier for the information of telemedicine coverage. If your insurance does not cover your visit, the cost will be cash payment on an urgent care (pay-as-you-go) basis with CareClix, or a monthly subscription is $29.95 with MyTelemedicine.

TeleMedicine

What is the usual cost for a telemedicine visit? How much does it cost if I connect to telemedicine through the Remmie app?

Telemedicine visits with cash payment on an urgent care (pay-as-you-go) basis is $50 with CareClix, and monthly subscription is $29.95 with MyTelemedicine. Our partners are working on accepting major insurance for telemedicine visits so the costs may vary from cash payments. Remmie will not charge for telemedicine visits, and will provide a rebate (50% of first visit or 100% of first monthly subscription) upon activation or usage of telemedicine.

Is the telemedicine service covered by insurance?

There are two ways to connect to telemedicine: 1. Through built-in telemedicine service in the Remmie App. By selecting “Talk to a doctor”, you will be directed to connect to one of our telemedicine service partners. You can choose between a pay-as-you-go plan or a monthly subscription. You will not be charged by Remmie and can change your plan at any time. You’ll receive a rebate to cover 50% of the first visit or 100% of the first month of a monthly subscription upon activation. You’ll be able to upload symptoms collected with the Remmie monitor and share them before video consultations. 2. For iOS users, you can use Zoom for real-time visualization in a video consultation with a health care provider. Healthcare providers who use Zoom to provide medical care or to discuss patient data are required to use the HIPAA compliant version of Zoom. You should be given a meeting ID and password with which you could join a session. Please refer to Remmie’s user manual for instructions.

Do I have to use telemedicine if I use Remmie otoscope?

No. You don’t have to use telemedicine services if you use Remmie otoscope. It is optional. Remmie does not charge anything other than the cost of the device. Telemedicine costs are all paid to telemedicine providers.
