Help Rule Out the Possibility of Your Child Having Strep Throat
Does your child have strep throat? This is a common question that nurses, doctors, and parents have when we take our kids into a doctor’s office with common cold symptoms. With Remmie, you are now able to visualize and connect your child’s ear, nose, and throat symptoms through a monitor with trained medical professionals from the comfort of your own home.
It can be tricky to diagnose or rule out the possibility of having strep throat. Remmie helps relieve the stress and worries parents have with their child’s sore throat issues. As a mother with a 5-year old boy, I am here to tell you, it can be worrisome, overwhelming, and painful to watch your kids go through that experience.
It is essential to understand what causes strep throat and the symptoms it creates. “The cause of strep throat is bacteria known as Streptococcus pyogenes, also known as group A streptococcus.” (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2018.) The bacteria that causes strep throat is most common in children, more so than adults. Some of the symptoms include; throat pain, hard to swallow, swollen tonsils, fever, rash, headache, nausea, body aches, and vomiting. Strep throat is also really contagious. “They can spread through airborne droplets when someone with the infection coughs or sneezes, or through shared food or drinks.” (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2018). As parents, we all know how kids spread germs around daily.
To help prevent strep throat, parents and children should be washing their hands frequently, cover your coughs and sneezes, don’t share personal items, and stay home if you have any symptoms of being sick to help prevent it from spreading. Though not every sore throat is strep, it is still something to be aware of and get the necessary treatments for your child with the help of Remmie Health’s tools. Using Remmie’s monitor and the application makes it very easy to share pictures and videos with professional medical personnel to get the relief we need.
